Europe of Rights Community College 2003 @ Casacares

Europe of Rights Community College I

The ACC Italy Committee would like to thank all the ERCC-participants for their contribution and co-operation to the success of this project.
The final report is now available on this page.

Brief Description

The Europe of Rights Community College took place on August 2nd-11th 2003 at the retreat and group meeting centre Casa Cares in Reggello (Florence).

40 young Europeans attended this Community College exchange, concerning the importance of fundamental human rights for the implementation of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding in our societies.
The Council of Europe’s European Convention on Human Rights and the European Union’s European Charter of Fundamental Rights offered a point of departure for the discussion.

Moreover, particular attention was devoted to the Charta Œcumenica, signed in Strasbourg on April 22nd 2001 by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE), and to its role in the process of defining a “European identity”. This part of the project was carried through by our partner, the World Student Christian Federation – Europe Region (WSCF-ER).
