Cornwall Community College

Rhisiart Talebot (Bristol) and Sophie Rich-Degeneve (Truro) have taken a new initiative. The Cornwall Community College is going to focus on the linguistic diversity of Europe, with particular reference to the advantages/disadvantages that face European lesser used language groups in an increasingly global community. The Cornwall Community College is going to be carried out in summer 2002. The Project description is going to be uploaded to the website within a few days.

Schools for Europe Community College -
inspiration from Denmark to Europe to Denmark

The ACC International programme office is going to organize the Schools for Europe Community College in order to (1) create a possible wording of a future catalogue of competences (a constitution) for the EU on matters of education, (2) draft a possible Act on Community Colleges as a follow up to the wording of the constitution, (3) systematically kick-start the European discussion on an eventually decentralized European policy of Education and (4) in this endeavor focus particularly on the Danish public. The event is going to be carried through at Højskolen Østersøen from December 27th 2001 to January 2nd 2002. Law students and others with nomotechnical knowledge should pay attention especially to this programme. Please confer the website. This programme has already found financial support from the socalled EU-nævnet for oplysning.

European Voluntary Service

Linda Jakobsone (temporarily USA) is going to work for the Latvian government on issues of European integration. Linda was headhunted recently (wonder how they found her?) for the position situated in Riga. Congratulations, Linda! Unfortunately for the ACC, it means that Linda is not able to be our first volunteer in office. We seem to have permanently bad luck on this project, since two previous candidates were rejected because of being more than 25 years of age. So, here we go again: WE ARE SEARCHING FOR A NEW VOLUNTEER / NEW VOLUNTEERS! For Latvian citizens, it is possible to take over Lindas contract (European Volunteers are financed by the EU). It would mean a "position" at the ACC International programme office from June 10th to December 10th. For other countries citizens and Latvians as well, we can apply for new contracts before April 1st -projects beginning after July 1st. Please contact the office for information on the tasks etc.

New structure on website

Laszlo Dani (Budapest) is working on the website right now. A new structure should make it easier to navigate on the site in the future. This is also the reason why some few updates and some details are missing. The first version of the new site was uploaded today.

Council of Europe - Directorate for Youth and Sport

The Directorate (closely linked to the European Youth Centers in Budapest and Strasbourg), has released a number of programmes of the year 2001. Please check the study sessions, programmes, training courses etc. at the http://www.coe.fr/youth/home.htm (the page "activities"). If you would like to act as a representative of the ACC at one of the events please contact the office. This would be interesting for ACC committee-members and organizers in particular!

German language courses in Kassel

This is an excerpt of a message from the Europa Kolleg Kassel / Deutsche Sprachschule für Ausländer: "As the the CEJ cancelled all language courses this year, the German government is ready to finance the whole course. These are very good news, but just a little bit late, because we have to recruit participants by our own. For this reason, we ask the Youth Organizations ... to help us..." "The programme of the seminar will not be changed because it was very successful during many years, there are only few modifications concerning the organization. The most important points of the organization frame are: Dates: 29 july to 25 of august 2001 (4 weeks) Board and lodging: Host families Language course: 5 lessons each morning (monday-friday) Cultural and special program for youth leaders: afternoons and weekends Participants: Youth leaders Course fees, board and lodging: paid by the German government (about 2.800 DM/participant) Remaning costs for Youth organization/participant: Travel expenses, 150 DM contribution."
