New name to the ACC?
[01.01.10]“The acronym is fine, but the words it stands for might not be the cleverest for our association.”
This opinion was presented by the chairman of the ACC, John Petersen, when the association had its General Assembly on December 29th.

Association for Community Colleges was chosen as a name in 1999, when the ACC was founded. It was a better alternative to Association for European Folk High Schools since it was crucial to put distance to the concept of folk.

The founders were not aware that community college was already a well established concept in for instance the United States, where it stands for something different. This does create some confusion now and then.

It is a good time to discuss the name issue now, since the ACC is rather passive for the time being. A space has been opened for discussion at the ACC Facebook fansite.

Confirm membership for 2010
The General Assembly offered no further highlight and was mainly carried out to fulfill the demands in the ACC statutes. It was attended by only few members, and the board members and substitutes on election were reelected.

It is strongly recommended that members confirm their membership for 2010 before the call for the General Assembly 2010.
